Willcox AZ

After leaving the roadside park from the chili dinner we headed West on I10.  Jason was delighted to see more drizzle. Then we had a slight detour for a quick check from Border Patrol.  They waved a through convinced we were legal.  We stayed glued to the radar and hazzard reports regarding the storms buffeting our loved ones.

It looks as though all made it past this first wave safely.  Mark and I started planning for Jason on a rest stop for sleep.  The first location was checked for trip reviews and we learned it was closed for repairs. Jason then asked for contingency plans for the routes and time to the destination.  Like all good sailors we must enter port (AKA: RV park) on time. With the logistics planning all tidy we then located a T/A in Willcox AZ for the sleep stop.  It seemed welcoming with the giant sign and arrows directing us.  Some skillful backing into what seems to be the last two slots, surrounded by dozens of 18 wheelers we were set for the night.  Mark and Jason were rewarded for their fitness by using the forward accomadations (sofa beds).  My dimensional advantage earned a birth in the captain's suite.  One word-Nice.  The memory of two godly men preparing for sleep with Little Mermaid bed linen will stay with me for the decades that await...

Today was a great day, full of blessings.  We are safe and greatly encouraged by your prayers and meaningul fellowship.  The Medic/Driver/Captain should be awake soon and we are planning to reach Valencia CA by fifteen hundred hours (3:00pm) local time.  There will be at least one short break for a brisket tasting..

  1. Thanks for the update. We are preparing for round #2 of storms at home. So far, we are safe and sound. Tell Jason instead of drizzle it could have been a deluge which makes driving impossible - especially in that monstrosity! :-) There is always something to be thankful for...
